Common questions
How do I play in a browser?
Open play.bibletown.app in a current version of Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox, on a computer, tablet or phone. There's nothing to install. On a computer, walk with the arrow keys or WASD and talk with E or Space; on a touch screen, tap where you want to go or use the joystick and the hand button.
Does it cost anything?
No. Acts of Kindness is free, with nothing to buy inside it and no ads.
Where are Chapters 2 to 6?
Chapter 1 is ready to play now. The other chapters show "Coming soon!" on the chapter screen and will open as each one is finished. Meanwhile, Explore Jerusalem is open any time.
How do I add or remove a player?
In the browser, the game keeps one player for each browser. In the iPhone and iPad app, tap New player on the "Who’s playing?" screen to add one; each device can have up to eight. To remove a player, tap Grown-ups, answer the grown-up question, and choose the player to remove. Removing a player deletes their progress and can't be undone.
Where is my child's progress saved?
Only on the device they play on. In a browser, it's kept in that browser's storage for play.bibletown.app, so clearing the browser's data, or playing in a private window, starts fresh. Progress doesn't move between devices yet.
Does the game need the internet?
The browser version needs a connection to load the game from play.bibletown.app, and talks to nothing else. The iPhone and iPad app, coming soon, works completely offline.
Can I turn the voices off?
Yes. Open the Journal during the game and switch voices off. The words still appear on screen. The music button sits next to the Journal.
Which Bible translation does the game use?
Scripture is quoted from the Revised Standard Version, Second Catholic Edition (RSV-2CE). Catechism references give paragraph numbers so you can look them up together.
I found something that isn't right in the story.
Please tell us. We want the game to be faithful to Scripture, to the Church's teaching, and to life in first-century Jerusalem, and we read every note about it.
